Closer
Jesus calls us to live counter-culturally, against the grain, and “upside-down” from the world’s way of thinking. However, with the constant connection to the world at our fingertips, it’s becoming increasingly hard to do. We are bombarded with images of unattainable beauty, unbelievable happiness, and unreachable ways of living. Within God's “upside-down kingdom,” these seemingly perfect lives are actually the opposite of the goal. The first shall be last, the humble will be exalted, and to truly live you must die to yourself.
The song “Closer” was written with this upside-down kingdom in mind. It’s a reminder that God has something bigger and better than we can imagine just below the surface and is actively pulling us closer toward it. He is inviting us into this new way of living. He is drawing us closer to Him and He promises to meet with us.
God, I know that you are drawing me closer to Your heart. May I have eyes to see You more clearly. To know You more. Give me to courage to make Your ways, my ways, in every aspect of my life. Amen.
