Real Hope: Visionਨਮੂਨਾ

Plans Are Second to Purpose
There might not be anything magical about the turn of a calendar year, in that it doesn’t mean we’ll automatically scrap the habits of the previous one, but it certainly offers a chance to reflect and imagine what’s coming next.
As we go into this one, what if instead of listing our goals and dreams, we asked the Lord how we could walk in His purpose? What should we adjust, give our time to and embark on that would see us stay in step with Him?
Consider the words of this proverb: our hearts devise many plans, but what prevails is His purpose. We can make whatever lists we like, but this proverb reminds us that we sit within a bigger picture – a bigger plan that’s being worked out regardless of our agenda. It encourages us that our plans and their success or failure cannot undermine God’s purpose.
Surely then, the best plan we make is to ask God what His purpose for our time is, and work toward that. Instead of being attached to our plans, what if we were attached to God’s vision for the year?
A definition of vision is, ‘the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination and wisdom’. We still do the due diligence of planning but let the source of our imagination be the Holy Spirit and find wisdom in His Word.
May that be our prayer this year: Lord, let your imagination guide my plans and give me your wisdom as I live them out in pursuit of your purpose.

About this Plan

While many people start a year with resolutions, we wanted to start the year with vision: the vision that God has for His people and the calling He has placed on every one of our lives. Let’s start the year not with things to fix or improve, but with the vision to see past the ordinary day-to-day and to look to the future God has set for us.
