Influence of God's Gloryਨਮੂਨਾ

A Great and Imperfect King
There is a wealth of literature, movies, traditions, and legends that were inspired by the Queen of Sheba’s visit to meet King Solomon. The visit is recorded as an event of interest in Jewish, Arab, and Abyssinian histories. Sheba is modern-day Yemen and is known for being the most fertile and best-watered region of Arabia. Its great strength has always been its central location for trade. The traders are probably the reason the Queen learned of Solomon’s great fame and, as a result, she requested a visit.
1. The passages about Solomon’s great wealth and influence are followed with a sobering passage about the king’s life. What does Scripture include about Solomon’s life that is important for all the generations to come? (1 Kings 11:1–8)
2. What consequences will God allow in the days ahead? (1 Kings 11:9–13) What are the lessons you want to remember most about King Solomon?

About this Plan

By the end of this study, we pray that you will know God’s voice better, that you will know when and how he speaks, and feel compelled to obey. As we study Scripture, we will discover that God’s plan cannot be thwarted regardless of who is in power. The point of the original monarchy found in 1 and 2 Samuel, illustrates that from the beginning.
