Grit & Grace: 1 & 2 Peter + 1, 2 & 3 Johnਨਮੂਨਾ

Peter cautions believers to beware of false teachers with their heretical doctrines and immoral lifestyles. Peter was so concerned about the temptations of sin that he wrote this second letter as an immediate follow-up to the first. He urges his readers to make every effort to grow in the knowledge and practice of the Christian faith.
The Word of God is preeminent in this short letter. 2 Peter gives scripture center stage in chapter 1 by emphasizing knowledge and its divine origin; in chapter 2 by showing its historicity, and in chapter 3 by indicating Paul’s letters are equal with the rest of the scriptures. Peter made strong connections with the Old Testament and challenged his audience to live authentic Christian lives, insisting on the importance of Scripture for guiding and preserving our faith.
