Love God Greatly - Truth Over Lies

DAY 36 OF 41

Read: Ephesians 6:11-17

SOAP: Ephesians 6:11

Since we must fight for truth, how are we to overcome the lies of this world? One powerful way is to arm ourselves with the armor of God. Ephesians 6:11-17 describes a Christian’s clothing as a war suit. To stand against the lies of the world, we must put on the characteristics of God. We have hope, because God is the one who gives us the armor we need. However, it is our responsibility to clothe ourselves, prepare for, and fight when the battle rages.

We are commanded to put on the full armor of God. To overcome the world, every piece is vital. These items include: truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God. God’s truth will keep us from falling. Righteousness – or Christlike living – protects us from the consequences of temptation. The gospel gives us a firm foundation. Faith protects us in all things. Salvation is critical for battle. The Word of God allows us to cut through and destroy any lie we encounter.

So how do we put on the armor of God? Spending time in God’s Word, prayer, fellowship with other believers, trusting Christ, and sharing the gospel with others all help strengthen our faith. Through these practices, we can resist temptation and have victory over lies.

Which piece of armor do you need to remember to put on today?

Father God, thank You for providing me with armor to stand strong against the evil in the world. Help me to have the discipline to put on my armor daily. I praise You for how You understand and meet my needs. Thank You for Jesus, in whom I have salvation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan

Love God Greatly - Truth Over Lies

In this study we will expose one lie a day and combat it with God’s truth. From the Old Testament to the New Testament, we will purposefully target thirty of the most common lies many women find themselves believing, lies like: You’re not enough. You can’t change. You aren’t loved. Your failures define you. God won’t forgive you for that… As God’s Word shines bright, exposing the falsehood found in each lie, our prayer is that the power of God’s truth will transform your life!
