Day 1: Tombs Not Burdens

Have you ever found yourself worrying about a problem that didn't exist? I have. Sometimes, I become so preoccupied with imagining scenarios that are far from reality. Instead of focusing on positive news or believing in God's divine intervention, I envision doom and gloom. If this resonates with you, you are not alone.

Reflecting on Mark 16:1 - 7 and Luke 24:1 - 12, I see an example of how even with noble intentions and a relationship with Jesus, we can still be overwhelmed by significant concerns that are ultimately non-problems.

In these passages, we find Mary Magdalene, Mary, the mother of James, Salome, and other women preparing to honor Jesus with fragrant oils and spices after His death. As they do so, their primary concern is who will roll the stone away from the tomb once they arrive. Remarkably, upon their arrival, the stone had already been rolled away. The women were met by two men "gleaming like lightning” proclaiming, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen!" (Luke 24:1-12). This was to remind the women that Jesus had already foretold His death and resurrection.

This parallels our everyday living where even in our service to God, we often carry burdens and stew over problems that have already been resolved.

As you read these passages, may they inspire you to remain steadfast in faith, for God's plans surpass our own. While we exercise our freedom of choice, God has predestined works in store for us. Stay faithful, for He actively removes obstacles from your path and invites you to partake in His grand plan.

On a final note, it's noteworthy to share that these women moved forward in their devotion to Jesus despite having questions. In their journey towards honoring Him, they were redirected to the next steps already prepared for them. Remember, God holds you close even when you stumble with unbelief. I hope you are excited about the future God has prepared for you. While His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not ours, His ways and thoughts are ultimately better.
