Do It Anywayनमूना
NO WASTED STEPS
My evening shift at Video Warehouse had been busier than usual. As I got into the quiet of my parked car, drizzles of rain tapping on the windshield, I began playing the song I’d had on repeat for months, speaking these words over my life: “I was created just to give you all the glory. I was created just to worship and adore thee.”
I listened to this song—“Created to Worship” by William Murphy—every day as a reminder that my current situation wasn’t my final destination. I encouraged myself daily: Tasha, you may be working at Video Warehouse right now, but that’s not all God has in store for you. You were created to worship. You were created for so much more.
No one could’ve ever told me that singing worship songs on a rainy night while driving home from Video Warehouse was preparing me for something greater than I could’ve ever imagined. I just knew that I loved to worship and I loved to lead other people into worship experiences. I was focused on perfecting my assignment and responsibilities, but God was preparing me for the rest of my life!
People sometimes ask me what advice I would give to an up-and-coming talent. My response is to first change your desire. Don’t desire to be a rising star; desire to be the best you are called to be today! If that’s singing in the community choir, do it with passion. If that’s teaching a Vacation Bible School class, make it so your students never want to leave. If that’s coaching a loud and wonderful basketball team, lead the players with energy and excitement.
The Bible tells us, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might” (Ecclesiastes 9:10) and that whatever we do, we should do it “in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Colossians 3:17).
I believe that the time leading up to the fulfillment of God’s promise is as important—or even more!—than the time of fulfillment. When we are aligned with God’s calling, there are no wasted steps.
God has a purpose for the season you’re in right now. How will you show yourself faithful to Him today?
Lord, how are you using this current season of my life to prepare me for the next? Help me to see the greatness of Your calling even in the mundane today. Amen.
