Since aligning our thoughts with God and His Kingdom will not only change our lives but help us live in light of what is true, the thoughts in our minds—the atmosphere of our minds—are crucial. Paul wrote in one of his letters, “We have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16b). As Jesus-followers, we all know that we didn’t automatically think like Jesus once we decided to follow Him. Since Jesus lives in us through His Spirit, having Jesus’ mind is something we need to nurture and grow. As we spend more and more time with Jesus, His thinking will rub off on us, and we’ll think more and more like He does.

So, if you want the mind of Christ, spend time with Him. In prayer. In His Word. In the secret place where you and He meet. Direct your attention toward Him and He will give you His mind. Read the gospels and see how He faced situations and interacted with people. Study the words He spoke. Make the connection between the words you read and the Person who lived them. Talk to Him in prayer and listen to His response. As you spend more and more time with Jesus, you will find that your thoughts line up more and more with His. You will be living in the beauty that is having the mind of Christ.
