See things for what they are

God created the universe. The devil didn’t create anything. Colossians 1:16 God created satan as a good angel, but he became proud and evil.

THE DEVIL

What went wrong?

Satan wanted to place himself above his Creator, so God kicked Him out of heaven. Isaiah 14:12-14 & Luke 10:18

Satan brought violence, sorrow and suffering to earth. Revelation 12:9

Who is satan?

• Father of lies

John 8:44

• Thief and robber (steals with violence)

John 10:1

He likes to sugar-coat temporary pleasures (e.g. drugs, boozing, casual sex), but he actually robs people of health and dignity.

• Destroyer

John 10:10

• Murderer

John 8:44

Satan often encourages people to take their own lives or exposes them to situations where they can easily get killed (e.g. driving when drunk)

• King of the darkness

John 3:20-21

Satan doesn’t like his sly schemes or evil works to be clearly seen.

What are satan’s ways?

• The devil disguises himself.

Corinthians 11:14

• He can work through people, seeming good and nice, He targets all people.

1 Peter 5:8

• He plays the blame game. 

Revelations 12:10

After deceiving you, satan will keep on accusing you of being a bad person.

Overcome satan’s plans

• God is A LOT mightier than the devil.

Ephesians 1:19-21 

• You have a lot of God’s POWER inside of you.

2 Timothy 1:7 

• The devil is afraid of God’s power inside of you.

James 2:19 

• With God in you, you have authority over satan’s schemes. 

1 John 4:4 

• God will protect you from the devil’s temptations.

1 Corinthians 10:13

Your choice

Satan can’t be a murderer, thief, or destroyer in your life when you choose to follow God. God won’t force you to follow Him, and satan can’t override what you decide. Deuteronomy 30:19

Beware! You can’t expect God to protect you when you compromise on His guidelines. Ephesians 4:27

Do you truly believe that the devil has NO hold on your life when you’re obedient to God’s power in you? Why?

Lord, I have decided to follow You for the rest of my life. I willingly surrender all the areas of my life to you. Thank You that the enemy cannot touch me when I stick with You. Please crush any foothold the devil might have in my life with Your power—in Jesus’s Name, amen.
