God Leads – Day 11

1 Peter 5:6-7 (ESV)

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

A few years ago, God asked me to take a significant step forward in my ministry. I had taken a few small steps before—each with plenty of support—but this time, I would have less backup and would be stepping out on my own.

I was a leader for an international Bible study, and the organization was asking leaders to actively bring new study groups into their community. God led me to say yes. Aside from the material resources that I would receive, I would need to set up the group on my own. I was concerned that I might feel like an island, disconnected from the main group. I gave that all to God since he called me to obey.

Opposition arose in the form of missed messages and phone calls as I attempted to secure a meeting place. This was followed by trials within our family that included a car accident and our cat's passing.

Yet, God brought healing from the losses. The island I feared was not an island. God brought a friend to serve beside me. He granted me wisdom in supporting the group. I now realize that God was using this time as a foundation for me to serve him as I do now.
