James’ letter is the earliest Christian document that we have. When early Jewish Christians were forced to flee Jerusalem due to hardship, they settled in many different towns and cities. However, as time went on their initial zeal started to fade. James, the brother of Jesus, wrote this letter around the time of Acts 11 and 12. As you pause your Acts reading to read James, place yourself into the shoes of these early Christians who were growing weary after being displaced from their homes for so long.
