A Career Built on Integrity

In a world where shortcuts often seem like the easiest way to success, integrity is the rare and enduring foundation that leads to lasting fulfillment. The story of Daniel stands as a powerful reminder of this truth. Taken into exile in Babylon, Daniel was tempted to abandon his faith and conform to the culture around him. Yet, when he was commanded to worship the king and his idols, Daniel refused. His faith and commitment to integrity were unshaken, even in the face of a life-threatening decree.

What sets Daniel apart is that his integrity wasn’t about doing the right thing when others were watching; it was about remaining faithful to God in the quiet moments when no one else was paying attention. Despite the intense pressure, he chose to follow God’s commands. Daniel’s trust in God’s provision, even in the most dangerous circumstances, brought divine favor, promotion, and influence, allowing him to make a difference in a foreign land.

Billy Graham’s life exemplified the same steadfast commitment to integrity. His global influence and fame did not sway his unwavering dedication to his faith. Whether on the world stage or behind the scenes, Graham remained committed to his values. Even when he faced the temptations that come with fame, he lived by the principle that every decision and action should honor God. His life serves as a reminder that integrity isn’t only about avoiding scandal; it’s about aligning every part of our lives with our values and trusting God with the outcomes.

Building a career based on integrity is not always the easiest or quickest path, but it is the most fulfilling in the long run. Integrity doesn’t always bring immediate rewards but builds a lasting foundation of trust and respect. When we commit our work to God and make decisions that honor Him, we can trust that He will establish our plans and guide us according to His perfect timing.

In my career, integrity has been a guiding principle, especially when faced with difficult decisions. I learned early on that being transparent, even when it was uncomfortable, built trust with colleagues and backers. One of the most challenging times was during a project where unforeseen setbacks threatened completion. Instead of hiding the difficulties, I shared the challenges openly with our backers. While the project couldn’t be finished as planned, our honesty and transparency strengthened relationships and left a lasting impression. In the end, the integrity we showed became more valuable than any immediate success.

Integrity is not about doing the right thing when it’s convenient; it’s about standing firm on your principles, even when the situation is complicated. Through it all, I’ve learned that God honors those who walk in integrity, even when the outcome isn’t what we expected.

• Integrity in the Details – Examine how you handle small tasks at work. Are you maintaining integrity when no one is watching? Choose one area to commit to transparency or honesty today.
• Aligning Your Actions with Your Values – Identify a decision you’re facing at work. Does it align with your core values? Choose the path that reflects integrity, trusting God’s timing and provision.

Prayer: God, let my work reflect Your character. Help me to walk in integrity, trusting in Your provision. Establish my plans and lead me in every decision so that my life and work bring glory to You. Amen.
