Gratitude Is Contagious

2 Corinthians 4:15 All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory. (NLT)

What a powerful verse! Sometimes we read the Bible too quickly and miss the depth of what God is trying to teach us, so let’s dissect these verses and really take them in.

“And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving.” In other words, as the Good News spreads, so should gratitude. The more we walk in thankfulness, the more glory God receives. That’s a beautiful connection! Our gratitude magnifies His goodness and brings Him glory.

As we’ve talked about on this journey, science backs this up too. Gratitude has a direct effect on our physical health. So when we obey God’s call to give thanks, and we know it strengthens our body and spirit, it’s a no-brainer that living grateful is the best way to live.

Let’s look at a powerful example of this from The Book of Acts.

Acts 2:46-47 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. (NASB)

Notice the result: "the Lord was adding to their number day by day.”It's important to point out that the end result of gratitude and praise is an increase of God's favor and more people being saved. Maybe we’ve overlooked how important gratitude is when it comes to increasing the number of global believers?

On day 4, we talked about how joy and gladness flow from a grateful heart. Here in Acts, we see that as the early believers lived with thankfulness and unity, the natural result was a revival, as people were being saved daily.

Here are five keys from these two verses:

• Daily fellowship
• Daily joy
• Praise = favor with their community and God saving people daily

These are powerful reminders. Gratitude doesn’t just change us; it influences everything around us. Through thankful hearts, God brings healing, unity, and salvation to a hurting world.
