Day 22: Hebrews 7-James 3

Over the following nine chapters journeying through the end of Hebrews and into James, I would encourage you to take notice of these things — Jesus Christ is our High Priest, now seated on the mercy seat living to make intercession for us (Hebrews 7:25.) Because of this, we can approach God in faith (Hebrews 10:22.)

Pause to reflect: Who is this High Priest that weeps in prayer?

This faith pleases the Father and is authored and perfected in our hearts by Jesus Himself (Hebrews 12:2.)

Pause to reflect: Who is this Man that authors and finishes faith upon the hearts of His people?

James, the brother of Jesus, then invites us to see the trials of life in a different light — to count it all joy (James 1:2.) He gives bits of wisdom for every believer: we must have mercy, our faith must be demonstrated through works, and our tongues are capable of much.

Prayer: Father, thank you for giving me the perfect picture of what You are like in Your Son Jesus. You have done all the work. Holy Spirit, I invite You to minister to me through these chapters today and to reveal Jesus to my heart through them. Through this living Word, I receive Your loving correction, tender mercy, and wisdom. Amen.
