New Strength

Although it might seem like our enemies are the people we disagree with and don’t like, they’re not our true enemies. The truth is, we’re all in a battle against an enemy much bigger than them. Regardless of how aware of it you are, there are spiritual forces of evil in the world

God has already won the war against the enemy (Satan) through Jesus’ death and resurrection. And eventually, Jesus is coming back and will make all things right. But until then it’s important to know that there are some battles still taking place. And we’re in them. So how do we stand firm against the schemes of the devil? Simply put, put on your armor and take up your weapon. Not just any armor and weapon. We must put on the full armor of God that the Apostle Paul writes about in Ephesians 6. The belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. 

Don’t expect to win a war you’re not prepared for. If you aren’t leaning on God’s strength, then you’re leaning on your own, and you won’t win battles like that. You will never be able to beat your lust, clean up your language, get rid of your gossip, or take down your addiction if you’re relying on your own strength. You might be really disciplined and have more willpower than most, but the devil is still stronger than you. But here’s some good news...he’s not stronger than God. 

Although Satan is powerful, God is more powerful. And although your sin is strong, God’s saving grace is stronger. God wants to save you from your sin and give you a new strength to walk in. His strength! Choose to walk in this new strength today.
