The Wise Men Gave Frankincense

A tricky word to spell is frankincense! It smells lovely and isn’t to be confused with monsters or a longer version of a man’s name. You might have even smelled it this Christmas time. When the wise men gave Jesus frankincense they were symbolising that he wouldn’t only be a king but he would also be a priest. Someone who would know what it’s like to be human yet would help us lift our eyes to God.

• One of the ways Jesus did this was to tell stories about God and His love toward us. Can you think of any stories that Jesus told?
• Jesus taught and showed us that God is a god of love and that with Him there’s a way through every hard situation.
• Pray: Thank you LORD that you know what it’s like to be human. Thank you that you never gave in to temptation and with you there is always a way through. Thank you that you’re a king but you’re also a friend. Amen.
