This thing called forgiveness sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? But let’s get real for a moment. Experiencing the power of forgiveness in our everyday lives – and leaving hurt and bitterness behind – is going to take more than platitudes and pretty words. We need practical, rubber-hits-the-road knowledge. We need to know how to forgive.

LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS

Have you ever thought, “That person should apologise to me – and I’m not going to forgive him until he does!” What was the result of that line of thinking?
What’s the price of carrying unforgiveness around in your heart?
Read Matthew 5:44-45 slowly and carefully. Ask God to heal your heart and help you to follow Jesus’ teaching to love your enemy and pray for the one who hurt you.
Picture in your mind’s eye one person who has hurt you deeply, someone you’re struggling to forgive. Grab a pen and spend a few minutes writing out a prayer for him or her. Bring him or her to the Lord as best you can.
