Jeroboam upped the sin when he gave the people false gods to worship and altars for burning incense. God responded quickly with a dire warning—one day King Josiah would burn the priests of these false gods on those very altars. Even in this darkest moment in the history of Israel, God had a plan for one who would clean up the place and restore God’s order.
