Identity - Seeing yourself through God's eyes
Our identity is often shaped by what others say about us, what we believe about ourselves, or what we do. But if our identity starts with anything other than “I am a son or daughter of the King”, we’re standing on shaky ground. The ultimate truth is not just who we are—but whose we are.
We were never meant to earn God’s approval. Because we can’t live up to His standards in our own strength, Jesus died in our place to restore us. Identity rooted in Christ frees us from striving and from the lies that say we’re not enough.
We often carry silent statements like:
“I am…”
– Not enough.
– Not as loved as others.
– Not worthy of God’s love.
– Only valuable for what I do.
– A failure.
– Not beautiful.
But these are lies. Let’s counter them with God’s truth.
Truth from Scripture
- You Were Chosen and Approved
Jeremiah 1:5, Ephesians 1:4 – “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” God chose you before the foundation of the world.
Declare this out loud: “God accepts and approves of me; therefore I accept and approve of myself.”
2. You Are Fully Loved Through Christ
Matthew 3:17 – “This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.” Through Christ’s finished work, this is now true of you. You don’t need to add anything to be accepted.
Truth: Self-acceptance is rooted in God’s acceptance of me through Christ’s total righteousness.
3. You Are No Longer Condemned
Romans 8:1 & 33 – “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus... Who then is the one who condemns? No one.”
Declare this out loud: “God does not condemn me, therefore I do not condemn myself.”
Lets look at a few more Truths we need to Know and believe:
- You Are Valuable Beyond Appearance: 1 Peter 3:3–4 states that true beauty is in the inner self, which is of great worth to God.
- Your Weakness Doesn’t Disqualify You: 2 Corinthians 12:9 says that His grace is sufficient; His power is made perfect in weakness.
- You Are Fully Known and Loved: Hebrews 4:15 says that Jesus understands your struggles and empathizes deeply.
- Your Identity Is in Grace, Not Works: Ephesians 2:8–9 makes it clear that you are saved by grace, not by performance or good behavior.
Self-Evaluation
- In what ways have I defined my worth by my appearance, success, or others’ opinions rather than by God's truth?
- Do I compare myself to others and feel "less than" or "better than"?
- Have I kept God at a distance because of shame or a sense of unworthiness?
- Do I believe that my failures or weaknesses disqualify me from God’s love or calling?
Repentance
Take a moment to invite God in:
“Father, I confess that I’ve believed lies about my identity. I’ve strived for approval and withheld love from myself. I repent of self-condemnation and unbelief. Please renew my mind with Your truth. I surrender my broken view of myself to You. Help me see myself as You do—fully loved, accepted, and chosen.”
Closing Encouragement
Your identity is not earned—it’s received. You are a beloved child of God. Let His truth wash over every lie you’ve believed. Even the desire to love Him comes from Him. So don’t strive, but ask:
“Holy Spirit, draw me close. Help me love the Father more. Help me believe what You say about me.”
You are chosen. You are loved. You are enough in Christ.
ಈ ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ

One of the enemy's greatest tactics is to constantly feed us lies about ourselves, others and our circumstances. Accepting these lies is sinful and calls for acknowledgement and repentance. The only way to defeat these thoughts is through the Truth of God's Word. We must not rely on our feelings or let them guide us, but stand firmly on the truth and the truth alone. The truth alone can set us free!
