Light of the World

Light

In the Northern Hemisphere, the winter solstice happens in the Christmas season. It ushers in the darkest day of the year — the day with the least sunlight. And sometimes, we go through seasons that can feel like that. Heavy. Dim. Shadowed by loss or uncertainty.

The world felt that way before Jesus entered it, too. But then He came and He demonstrated that light changes everything. Instantly. It pushes back darkness, brings clarity, and shows the way. That’s what the star did for the wise men. It guided them straight to Jesus. God could have kept His Son hidden. He could have left the world stumbling in the dark. But He didn’t. He placed a light in the sky so the world would know where to look. Because God wants us to find Him.

From the very beginning, God’s heart has been to draw people close. The prophets pointed to His coming. The angels announced His birth. The shepherds ran to see Him. The wise men followed the light until it led them to worship. And today, His Spirit still calls out in the middle of our darkness: Come and see. Come and find Me.

And the stunning truth of the gospel is that when we find Jesus and accept His grace and forgiveness, then His light fills us, too, so we can share it with others.

This Christmas might feel full of light for you, or it may feel heavy and dark with the shadows of worry, doubt, grief, or uncertainty. But here’s the hope for followers of Christ: the light of Jesus shines brightest in the dark. God’s light isn’t distant or dim. It is near, steady, and strong enough to guide you through any dark season you face.

Don’t miss the invitation. God’s not hiding. He wants you to find Him. Just like the wise men, when you follow His light, you’ll discover hope, peace, joy, love, and a Savior worth your worship.

Prayer: “Jesus, Light of the World, shine brightly in our lives. Thank You for coming to dwell with us and bring us eternal life.”
