SERVE WITH HUMILITY

Philippians 2:3–4: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

The letter to the Philippians was written by Paul around A.D. 61, from prison in Rome. The church in Philippi was born in the midst of hardship, yet it was a faithful and generous community. However, it also faced the challenge of selfishness and lack of unity.

That’s why Paul invites them to reflect the mindset of Christ, who, though Lord, did not seek to be served but to serve and to give His life (Phil. 2:5–8). Christian service does not arise from pride or a desire for recognition, but from a heart that gives itself out of love.

WHAT SHOULD I DO TODAY?

  1. Remember that serving God is not to glorify ourselves, but to give glory to Him.
  2. Serve with humility.
  3. Serve with others in mind.
  4. Follow Jesus’ example today.

God calls us to serve with humility, just as Christ did.

- Sebastián Paulino.
