Introduction

In the past 15 years of mentoring Christian writers, we have noticed numerous obstacles that can hinder writing progress. Unfortunately, most writers stay stuck and never finish their first draft.

Writing is challenging and demanding on its own. But as Christian writers, we also face spiritual resistance that seeks to derail our writing projects. When our goal is to glorify God, whom our spiritual enemy hates, we can be sure that obstacles of every kind will be placed in our writing path.

If you frequently experience resistance in your writing, it’s time to get to the root of the problem. In this plan, we look at three of the most common and recurring obstacles in the Christian writing community.

As those who desire to see God’s Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven, you’ll hear us use the term “Kingdom writers.” A Kingdom writer writes with the following words of Jesus in full view,

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:33)

We believe that as we are led by the Spirit of God in our writing, there is no obstacle we can’t break through. The same God who calms storms, heals lepers, multiplies loaves & fish, and raises the dead is the same God who gives the Kingdom writer inspired words to share with a spiritually hungry world.

A fellow Kingdom writer named King David penned the following words that give us a clear distinction between those who trust in the Lord and those who trust in their own resources,

“Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the LORD our God. Those nations will fall down and collapse, but we will rise up and stand firm. Give victory to our king, O LORD! Answer our cry for help.” (Psalm 20:7-9)

Maybe you have fallen down at some point, and your writing has come to a halt. It’s our hope and prayer that the Lord will use this plan as an extended hand to help you get back to your feet on solid ground.

God wants to use your writing to help encourage and strengthen others in their journey. Together, we are going to overcome one obstacle at a time as we gain momentum in our writing. We are in this battle with you, Kingdom writer.
