Day 5. Courage for the Days Ahead

You’ve carried financial pressure all week—the fear of not having enough, the ache of being overlooked, the frustration of bills that don’t wait. God’s Word calls you not to live stuck in fear, but to live in courage, because he is with you wherever you go.

“Remember that I have commanded you to be determined and confident! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for I, the LORD your God, am with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 GNT)

Joshua stood at the edge of a responsibility too great for him. He had seen Moses lead, but now the mantle rested on his shoulders. God didn’t hand him new strategies or resources—he gave him a command: be strong and courageous. The reason was unshakable and straightforward: “I … am with you wherever you go.”

That same courage is for you. When your wallet feels light and responsibilities feel heavy, God reminds you that strength is not pretending you have enough—it’s trusting that he is enough. You’ve been called to trade worry for prayer (Philippians 4:6), to seek his Kingdom above endless “what ifs” (Matthew 6:33–34), to rest in the security of his presence (Hebrews 13:5–6), and to stand against fear with his strength upholding you (Isaiah 41:10). Now, the call is to live this daily with courage.

Courage means walking into the same workplace without despair. It means providing for your family, not with clenched anxiety, but with steady trust. It means seeing your paycheck as a provision, not an identity.

Prayer

Lord, you know the weight I carry when I feel overlooked and underpaid. Thank you for teaching me to bring every need to you with gratitude, to put your Kingdom first, to rest in your faithful presence, and to trust your strength when fear closes in. Today, give me the courage you gave Joshua—to step forward with confidence, not discouragement. Make me steady in my work, faithful in my responsibilities, and strong in my trust, knowing you are with me wherever I go. Amen.

Take the Next Step

What you’ve explored this week isn’t just about money; it’s about mindset. The same truths that researchers talk about today—gratitude, rest, and resilience—God’s Word has been teaching for thousands of years.
