Your Prayers Can Make a Difference

As mentioned on the first day, the church in Kamuku land, and much of northern Nigeria is under attack by bandits and terrorists. In some parts of the country, terrorists have made clear that their goal is to wipe out Christianity to replace it with another religion. In other parts of the country, the terrorists are a particular tribe committed to territorial conquests. In many locations, both Christians and non-Christians are victims of violence, kidnapping, abduction, rape, maiming, and mass murder.

Like the early church in Antioch (Acts 11:29-30), new church plants in Kamuku have generously given gifts of cash and food to help the mother church in Kangon Biri. They also support teams of indigenous believers who continue in evangelism and church planting. The two local churches in Kangon Biri and Ukuru are growing in number and shining like lights on a hill.

Your prayers can make a difference to these churches. Please take a moment to join the church in Nigeria in prayer. Here are some ways you can pray:

  • That the government will provide security to its citizens
  • That God will change the hearts of the perpetrators and they will accept the love of Christ
  • That Christians will stand true to their faith and bear testimony to the Lord
  • That the larger body of Christ will come to the aid of suffering Christians
  • That Nigeria will know peace again for the sake of the spread of the gospel

Reflection

As you consider the suffering of these churches in Nigeria, what commitment will you make to pray for them this week?
