Have you ever come face-to-face with something that was simply unstoppable?

Today, we read of a moment so futile in its outcome that it’s almost comical: the Pharisees try to stop the resurrection of Jesus.

Like trying to tape shut an erupting volcano or build a sandcastle to stop a tsunami, the religious elites gathered to make the tomb “secure”. They didn’t want the disciples stealing Jesus’ body to pretend that He rose again as Jesus claimed before He died. The tomb was sealed, and a guard was set. Poor guard!

Human effort stands no chance against the plans and purposes of God Almighty. The Pharisees, Pilate, and the guards had all the worldly power and as many resources as they could muster. They thought their strategy would set the movement of Jesus straight.

But we know what happens.

No power of man, no decree of Rome, no plot of Satan could stop God's plan from unfolding and God's power from overcoming the grave.

Jesus is simply unstoppable.

Today, ponder this: Where in your own life are you prone to thinking you're more powerful than God? What might you need to surrender to Jesus today, knowing that His plans and purposes are unstoppable?
