An undivided heart
'Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness, give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead.' (Psalm 86:11-13, NIV)
You are living in a time when distraction is intensified. It seems nearly impossible to keep your focus on one thought for any length of time. An 'undivided heart' seems an impossible task. Your heart and mind are pulled in multiple directions. Maybe you have felt that your time with God is anything but focused.
Today’s scripture is an act of submission, and this act of yielding requests a lesson in how to rely on the Almighty. This humble request is the key that opens the door to learning of God’s faithfulness, which leads to an undivided heart.
- What is causing a lack of focus, distraction, and divided heart for you today? Journal what comes to mind. Rely on God to give you focus, even during chaos.
Prayer: Lord, today, teach me your way so that I may rely on your faithfulness. Amen.
