Have you ever heard people say that Mary rode on a donkey to Bethlehem? It’s a nice picture, and it may have happened, but the Bible doesn’t tell us how Mary got there. Back then, donkeys were a common way to travel. They were strong, steady, and very helpful. Riding on a donkey would have made a long, hard journey a little bit easier–especially for someone like Mary, who was about to have a baby! Whether she walked or rode, one thing is clear: she trusted God the whole way. She knew God had a special plan, even when the journey was hard or uncomfortable. Just like Mary, we can trust that God is with us every step of our journey–even when we don’t know what’s coming next.

Dear God, thank you that care for us and have good things planned for us. When we go through tough times, help us to remember that you are always close to us. Help us to pray, read the Bible, and talk to other Christians who can help and encourage us. Amen.
