Prophesy: Another Chance!

You may feel like Moses in the desert — wondering if there is another chance for your faith, another chance for your family, your finances, your studies, or your service to the Lord. If so, I must tell you that God is slow to anger and rich in mercy. And while I was reading a passage from Jeremiah, God said to me, “Prophesy: Another chance.”

This was the case with the prophet Jonah. He received a call to go and preach to Nineveh, the most wicked city on earth at the time. Jonah, knowing what kind of people the Ninevites were, didn’t want to go. So he went to the port, boarded a ship to Tarshish, fleeing from the presence of God. However, you must know this: you cannot run from Him. The gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.

While on the ship, a great storm arose. Jonah realized it was because of him, and the only solution was to throw him overboard to calm the tempest. In the water, a giant fish swallowed him, and it was in that anguish that Jonah cried out to the Lord. The fish then vomited him onto dry land, and the Scripture says: “Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time.”
