Thomas missed it.

The risen Jesus had appeared to the other disciples, and they were filled with joy. But Thomas hadn’t been there. And when they told him, he had a hard time trusting what they’d seen. “Unless I see the nail wounds... I won’t believe.”

It’s easy to judge Thomas at first, but most of us know what that tension feels like. We’ve all had questions and wrestled with doubt. We’ve wondered why God didn’t come through the way we expected. Why prayers went unanswered. Why pain still lingers.

But Jesus didn't scold or shame Thomas for doubting. Instead, he offered Thomas exactly what he asked for: His wounds, up close. And in that moment, Thomas doesn’t just believe—he worships. “My Lord and my God!”

Doubt isn’t a sign of failure or weakness—it’s often a sign that we’re still searching. Faith and doubt can coexist, and Jesus welcomes our questions, no matter how big or scary they may feel to us.

If you're struggling with doubt right now, have you talked to Jesus about them? Say them out loud. Ask him to meet you in the middle of them. He’s not expecting us to have perfect faith. He just wants you to be real with him.
