Day 23: Daniel’s Vision
The ultimate kingdom of a regathered Israel described in the books of Moses and the prophets, included Daniel. Daniel had a dream of four beasts rising from the sea, one after the other. The interpretation was that they were four kingdoms that would rise up—each one supplanting the next and destined to rule much of the earth. That part of Daniel’s dream focused on what happened on earth.
However, another part described events taking place in heaven: “As I looked, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze...In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed” (Daniel 7:9, 13-14).
The term Ancient of Days clearly refers to God, portrayed as being on a throne in heaven. The term “son of man” could be translated as a “human one.” This human came on the clouds of heaven into the presence of God, who gave Him authority and power to rule the peoples of earth forever. This is clearly the Messiah that other prophets call the Son of David.
When Jesus was on earth, one of His favorite titles for Himself was “Son of Man.” Most of the time He wasn’t simply referring to Himself as a human. Instead, He was citing this passage where the phrase refers to the One who will rule over the kingdom that God will establish—not only over Israel, but over the entire earth. Daniel’s interpretation concluded with these words: “The sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him” (Daniel 7:27).
The Son of Man is coming to unite His people as one, and we shall be coheirs with Him. Scripture says this: “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory” (Romans 8:16-17).
This day is coming! Are you ready for it?
Reflection
Why is it meaningful that Jesus called Himself the Son of Man?
Scripture says, “we are co-heirs with Christ.” What does that mean to you?
We must live with the motto: “Be prepared!” What does that look like in your life?
ಈ ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ

Christianity has obscured the fact that Jesus taught Judaism. This loss is visible in many ways, such as the misinterpretation of many New Testament Scriptures. Many people love the Bible more than their tradition; many Christians have a high view of Scripture; and many Jews are curious about Jesus. Readers need only the suppleness, curiosity, and receptivity produced by a hunger for God and His truth. Fully invested in growing in their faith, they are curious to understand the link between Judaism and Christianity.
