Renewed Strength in the Lord
“But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.” — Isaiah 40:31 AMPC
Waiting is hard. We want answers now, relief now, progress now. But Isaiah tells us that those who wait for the Lord—who expect, look for, and hope in Him—will renew their strength.
Waiting in Scripture isn’t passive; it’s active trust. It’s leaning into God, watching for His hand, and expecting His timing. And the promise is incredible: renewed strength, mounting up with wings like eagles, running without weariness, walking without fainting.
Some seasons you will soar—everything is clear and progress is visible. Other seasons, you will run—steady, focused endurance. Many seasons, you will simply walk—one small step at a time. And God promises strength for all three.
To wait on the Lord is to stay close to Him in prayer, to anchor yourself in His Word, and to hope in His character. As you do, your strength is renewed.
Reflection Question:
Which rhythm—soaring, running, or walking—best describes your season, and how can you wait on the Lord in a way that fits that pace?
