If you ever spend time on a beach, you’re likely to find someone walking around with a metal detector, carefully gliding over the sand. For these people, the treasure isn’t in the crash of the waves or the beauty of the sunset, but rather it is buried beneath the sand. They search in hopes of finding something of worth. You ever wonder, what does God look for? What’s treasure to Him?

The scriptures teach us it's hearts that have been captivated by Him. Like a moth to a flame. What is treasure to God, is you desiring Him with a faith that trusts that He is in control. That He is good. And that He can be trusted because He really is full of mercy & grace, even when - especially when - we have fallen. That’s shown in hearts that do what God says. That return to God when they fail. And that praise God for who He is & what He has done.

That’s what David had. It’s why God chose Him. It’s why God will choose you too. Not because you’re perfect or the best, but because you’re His.
