Ready and Steady in Christ

Big Idea: Being ready for Jesus’ return isn’t about predictions, it’s about living each day with faith, hope, and love.

Christians believe Jesus will return and set everything right again. But when? That’s the question believers have asked for two thousand years.

The Thessalonians asked it too, and Paul didn’t give them a secret calendar. Instead, he gave them a way to live.

Paul told them to stay awake, alert, and steady in Christ. Instead of chasing predictions or giving in to fear, he called them to put on faith, hope, and love like armor that would carry them through whatever came next.

Paul’s words reflect the words of Jesus, who told us that even He, the Son of God, didn’t know when He would return. So we don’t need to waste our time trying to predict when Jesus will return; instead, we’re called to live with simple daily obedience.

Living ready doesn’t mean doomscrolling or reading the news for hidden clues. It means starting the day with prayer, showing love to people right in front of us, and holding on to hope when everything else feels uncertain.

We remain rooted in God’s love and our purpose—to make earth more like heaven through loving God and loving others.
