Wavers

All day long I restlessly wait
Moving anxiously from one labor to another
Busying myself for one more hour
While the tasks of the next hour hover in suspended animation All of this relentless spinning
Like a relentless imitation of the Earth on its axis

My precarious limbs
Advancing without thinking
On the verge of a pitiful collapse

The Lord has created me for movement While teaching me to be immovable
So that I am like an ancient tree
That wobbles in the violent wind

But never wavers
