Giving unto God ,all that we have got !!!

This story we have heard many times. This passage is a clear indication that, as followers of Christ, we will need to face the challenges of this world. The family has to go through a struggle, losing a father/head of the house, there were loans to be repaid, pressure from the people around, the future of the children, financial tensions, and other issues. In spite of everything, the widow knew that the only solution was to seek help from the prophet. Irrespective of whatever our problem may be, the solution lies in the presence of God. As we choose to walk with Christ and live a life that pleases God, there will be challenges and obstacles. Despite everything, we can still have confidence in Christ.

Prophet Elisha did not hesitate to help this family when the widow reached out to him. He didn't just say 'I will pray about the situation'; rather, he chose to help and do something about the situation. He volunteered to lend a hand and provide assistance. Let's look back on our lives and discover where we could have done something differently.

What do you have?

The Prophet asked the widow, 'What do you have in the house?' A flask of olive oil was her reply. We are aware of how God performed a miracle. Until the last vessel arrived, it had olive oil in it. The prophet asked the widow to sell the oil and repay the debts. There will be some money left, which she can use to support herself. This is not the first time that God has used what we have to deliver for His glory. Let's take the following examples.

1. David and Goliath - With little experience with the Lion and Bear, God used David to defeat Goliath.

2. Feeding the 5000, the small boy gave 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish - the little boy was willing to give what he had so that it could be a blessing for many.

3. Elijah and the widow - when the widow was ready to give in what she had (flour and oil) to the prophet, we see that she never ran out of flour and the oil for many days.

Today, God can still do the same thing for us as he did for the widow. It can either be skills, resources, people, talents, or anything. When we give it to God, He is able to bless it and use it for His glory.
