Live your calling

What if you were the key to a door that would otherwise remain closed forever? Many people search for their calling as if it were a hidden treasure. But calling does not begin with doing, but with being. It is rooted in a relationship with a God who knows you, who wanted and created you, and who has good plans for your life (cf. Jeremiah 29:11). You are not a product of chance; you are God's masterpiece.

And God has entrusted you with gifts. Some of these gifts are already visible to everyone, while others still lie dormant beneath the surface. They are buried under self-doubt, pain, or routine. Your gifts are like keys that are meant to open doors to hearts, hope, or change. Even if you do not yet see or accept this gift, you can be sure that God sees it and longs to bring it to life in you.

Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Your gifts are not a nice bonus, but part of your divine destiny. If you don't recognize them (yet), it can make your life feel empty. Your everyday life seems gray and your faith has grown weary over the years. You may also wonder if anyone sees you at all or if God hears your prayers.

God does not wait for perfect people. He seeks willing hearts. He knows that we are not perfect, but he wants people who dare to take a step toward him. People who dare to take steps of faith, even if they are only at the beginning of their journey, people who stumble again and again along the way, or who do not let themselves be discouraged when the path is unclear. Your calling is not a straight path, but a process. Perhaps it feels like an incalculable risk to you, especially if you are not sure whether it really is meant for you.

But when God calls, he also accompanies us. He is at our side when we take detours, when we suffer through crises, or when we are simply afraid. When you fall, he helps you up. He stays by your side and never stops cheering you on until you reach the goal he has prepared for you.

Next steps: Take time this week to pray and ask God to show you a gift or ability he has placed within you, and write down where you could use this gift in a concrete way.
