In The Face Of The Kingdom Of Darkness

“Submit yourselves, therefore, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 (ESV)

The Gospel of Mark presents the life of Jesus at a breathtaking pace, revealing how the arrival of Christ shook the very core of the kingdom of darkness. With His coming, Satan’s dominion was violently disrupted. Demons that once tormented people’s hearts and minds could no longer find a place to dwell in the presence of Jesus. The power of God and the authority of Heaven became evident in the lives of all who encountered the living Christ. With compassion, He reached out to the afflicted, fully aware that these evil spirits constantly seek to destroy humanity and rob us of our divine inheritance. How many lives did Jesus transform through His authority? And He passed that very authority to His disciples! This means we are part of that legacy, carrying the same power that drove out demons and healed the sick.

Fasting and prayer are our divine tools for accessing that power. It is through His authority, that we confront the devil and his legions of darkness, saying, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written…” Christ demonstrated this during His forty days of fasting in the wilderness. (Matthew 4:10)

In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus teaches us to pray: “and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” This is a call to live in victory, to actively resist the enemy of our souls.

FASTING and PRAYER bind the actions of evil and cast it out, clearing the space where unclean spirits once dwelled. As a result, the Kingdom of Heaven spreads across the earth, and we find our refuge and freedom in Christ, who liberates us from bondage!

So, what’s holding us back from spending more time with the Lord? The more we abide in Him, the more our hearts become sensitive and compassionate toward others—many of whom suffer from the devastation caused by spirits of wickedness.

“And from the time John the Baptist began preaching until now, the Kingdom of Heaven has been forcefully advancing, and violent people are attacking it.” (Matthew 11:12 NLT)

It’s time to set aside every hindrance and simplify our lives, committing more of our time, energy, resources and passion to expanding God’s glory advancing His Kingdom here on earth.

“O Lord, strengthen our faith. Empower us to stand firm against Satan, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Amen.”
