Forever Open: A Pilgrimage of the Heartಮಾದರಿ

The Journey of a Pilgrim
Every one of us, whether we realize it or not, is living in pursuit of something. Scripture calls us “foreigners and nomads here on earth”—pilgrims searching for a forever-home. So even though you may not be walking the winding streets of Rome during this Year of Jubilee, know that you are still on a journey–a pilgrimage of the heart.
The motivation behind your pilgrimage is unique to you. Maybe it is one of curiosity, driven by the desire to learn if there is more to life than what you think. Or maybe you feel akin to the ancient Israelites who desperately searched the wilderness for a place they could call their own.
That is the true reality of the pilgrim–a restless heart. One that feels the pressure of seeking something bigger, even if it doesn’t know where to find it.
As Saint Augustine said, “You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in You.” Your restlessness is evidence that you were made for more than what this world offers–a void that only a personal relationship with Jesus can fill.
Psalm 63 expresses this clearly: “O God, you are my God… my soul thirsts for you.”
And God responds with a promise. He says, “If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” The pilgrimage of the heart begins when you bring your restlessness to God and let Him guide your steps.
Reflect:
1. In what ways has your heart felt restless lately?
2. How might God be using that restlessness to draw you closer to Him?
3. What would it look like to seek God wholeheartedly in this season?

You may not be walking the streets of Rome this Year of Jubilee, but your heart is still on a journey: a pilgrimage of the heart. This five day plan explores what it means to live as a pilgrim of hope; to long for something greater, to wrestle with sin and discover the freedom that can only be found in the mercy of Jesus. We would like to thank OneHope for providing this plan.
