Lost Kings | Steward Like a Kingಮಾದರಿ

The King's Inventory
It is a curious thing how a man can walk through his days unaware of the riches he carries. Not gold or silver, but the hidden treasury of gifts, influence, and relationships entrusted to him by the Creator. We fancy ourselves poor, or at least modest in our holdings, when in truth, we are royal stewards. The first duty of a king is to take inventory. Not in pride, as if he acquired these things by his own merit, but in humility, knowing they were given by a gracious Master who expects them to be multiplied.
You and I are not owners. We are entrusted men. That job, that family, that business, that church, that talent, that influence...none of these things belong to you. They are loans from our King. To say otherwise is to pretend the clay can shape itself or the brush can boast of the painting. God gives, and He gives strategically. You’ve been assigned your portion not by chance, but by divine foresight. And He does not entrust lightly.
The parable of the talents is not merely a tale of economics. It is a sharp, almost uncomfortable reminder that inactivity is not neutrality. The servant who buried his gift was not applauded for his caution. He was condemned for his inaction. This should give us pause. How many gifts have we buried out of fear, sloth, or false humility? We may think we are being safe, even spiritual, by avoiding risk. But God does not reward stagnation. He rewards movement.
The wise king, then, must ask: What has God placed in my hands? The answer is not found in comparison with others, nor in self-pity over what we lack. Rather, it is discovered in intentional and thoughtful examination of our lives. Begin with the tangible. Your resources, your time, your health. Then look deeper. Your mind, your passions, your experiences, your relationships. These are not accidents. They are assignments.
Today, let us resolve to stop waiting for more and start stewarding what is already ours. Take inventory. Name what you’ve been given. Thank God for it. And prepare yourself to multiply it. For when Christ returns, He will not ask what we wished we had. He will ask what we did with what we were given.
