Day after day, we are bombarded by conflicting messages about what is right and what is wrong.

Let me tell you, what the world calls right, and what God calls right are two wildly different things. I tried living by the world’s standards. Believe me, it only brought me confusion and darkness. When I started following God and reading the Word as though it was really God speaking directly to me—that’s when things started to change. My mind began to be transformed.

Here are some ways that reading God’s Word will change the way you think.

The world tells you that taking care of yourself is the first priority, but God says to put others first.

Philippians 2:3-4 says,

"Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." (NIV)

The world tells you that you’re more respectable if you have money, but the Scripture says the love of money destroys us.

1 Timothy 6:10 says,

"For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows." (NLT)

The world tells you to reject those who reject you, but the Bible tells us to love even our enemies.

Matthew 5:43-44 says,

"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you…” (NKJV)

God’s ways are better than our ways. His thoughts are better than our thoughts. You can rely on His truth to lead you well. Will you let Him change your mind today?

We want to invite you to do something that's a little bit challenging.

We want to ask you to take a look at your own patterns of thinking. Is there something you've always thought was true about the world—about yourself, about God, or how a person should act—and now you're realizing you might have gotten it wrong?

We all get things wrong. All of us, like sheep, have gone astray. The way we think is automatically shaped by what the world tells us. It takes intention, and a willing heart to let our thinking be shaped by what God tells us is true and right and good.

Would you ask God today—to show you one area of your thinking that He wants to change? Let Him put something specific on your heart. Ask Him to help you in that area—to see things clearly and rightly—the way He does. I know He will help you, and gently lead you to grow and change.

Let's pray...

God, I bring You all my thoughts. I want to learn to see things from Your perspective. Would You speak to me? Would You make me willing to be transformed by Your Holy Spirit through Your Word? Change the way I think, and help me think more as You do. In Jesus' name. Amen.
