Hebrews Part 2: Selfish Christianityಮಾದರಿ

God Doesn’t Want Religion—He Wants You
God doesn’t just rule over creation—He desires a relationship with it. As Father, Son, and Spirit, He exists in perfect unity and love. When God made us in His image, He wired us for that same kind of connection with Him and with each other. But sin shattered that bond. What’s shocking isn’t that we broke the relationship—it’s that God, in His mercy, chose to restore it through covenant.
Immediately after humanity’s first sin, God didn’t turn away—He moved toward His rebellious image-bearers with grace. In Genesis 3, He pursued Adam and Eve, spoke truth to them, covered their shame, and pointed them to a future Savior who would defeat the serpent. From the very beginning, God’s answer to sin was not abandonment but covenant—His promise to rescue, redeem, and restore through Jesus Christ.
God's entering a loving covenant with sinners reveals seven things about Him:
1.He is relational and invites us into a relationship.
2.He is gracious, giving everything while owing us nothing.
3.He is sovereign, initiating the covenant Himself.
4.He is Lord, setting the terms of that covenant.
5.He is holy, requiring a sacrifice for sin.
6.He is loving, empowering obedience through blessing.
7.He is just, bringing consequences for rejecting His covenant.
Hebrews 8:1-13 makes covenant the central theme, repeating the word seven times. It contrasts the old covenants with the “new covenant” made possible through the death, burial, and Resurrection of Jesus. A covenant, at its core, is a bond—a committed relationship sealed by promises, signs, and sacrifice. And unlike human contracts, God’s covenants are built on mercy. Though we deserve judgment, He offers salvation.
God’s covenants are more than contracts—they’re lifelines of love. From Genesis to Jesus, He has pursued us, provided for us, and pledged Himself to us. The New Covenant through Christ is the ultimate proof: we don’t earn our relationship with God—we receive it by grace. He invites us into a bond that’s sealed by sacrifice, shaped by love, and secured forever.
Have you said yes to a relationship with Jesus? If not, what are you waiting for?
