From Choke Point to Calling: Finding Freedom With Jesus

DAY 2 OF 4

When Peter recognized Jesus on the shore, he jumped into the water and ran to Him. What did Jesus do next? He made breakfast. Before giving any instruction or correction, He offered rest and nourishment. I often think that I have to “get back to work” for Jesus as soon as I’ve messed up or failed. But Jesus first says to me, “Come and have breakfast.” He knows my soul gets tired—especially when I’ve been trying, failing, or figuring things out on my own. His invitation is not just to serve Him, but to sit with Him. I need to allow Him to feed, refresh, and strengthen me before I rush into my next assignment.

  1. What are the signs that I’ve been spiritually or emotionally weary?
  2. What would it look like to accept Jesus’ invitation to rest and be refreshed with Him?

About this Plan

From Choke Point to Calling: Finding Freedom With Jesus

A 4-Day Journey Through John 21 This devotional plan invites me to walk with Peter through one of the most pivotal moments in his life—a moment where Jesus met him in his failure and frustration, not to condemn him, but to restore and recommission him. As we reflect on these four choke points, we can be reminded that Jesus longs to bring freedom in these same areas of our life too. This devotional plan is inspired by a powerful teaching originally shared by Dave Smith, Senior Leader of KingsGate Community Church, UK
