Daily Bible Reading— May 2025, God's Strengthening Word: Trusting in God’s Promisesಮಾದರಿ

Introduction
1 Samuel 23:1–29: Today’s reading includes several occasions when King Saul tries to capture David. Saul had become jealous of David’s military successes (1 Samuel 18:6–16; 1 Samuel 19). Even though David had been victorious in saving the town of Keilah from the Philistines, he had to keep fleeing from the king.
Today’s Key Verse: 1 Samuel 23:14b
Saul was always trying to find him, but God did not turn David over to him.
Reflect
What was David’s petition to God (verses 10–12)? (Verses 6 and 9 refer to an “ephod,” a sacred vestment worn by the high priest. In this context it is being used by David and the priest Abiathar as an instrument of divination.) Jonathan, Saul’s son, had become David’s friend (see 1 Samuel 18:1–5 and 19:1–3). What does Jonathan say to David here (verses 16–18)? What words of encouragement can you offer to someone today?
Pray
Lord God, help me to listen for your voice today and heed your teachings. As I journey in faith, I am assured that you are always with me, guiding me in the way of your truth. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
1 Samuel 24:1–22: David spares Saul’s life.
