Pray the Prayer: Unlocking the Power of the Lord's Prayerಮಾದರಿ

Jesus makes a powerful connection in this part of the prayer: our forgiveness from God is tied to our willingness to forgive others.

In biblical times, debt was often used as a metaphor for sin. When someone sinned against another, they were seen as "owing" them something—justice, repayment, or reconciliation.

Jesus teaches that just as God cancels our spiritual debt, we must cancel the debts of others. This means:

✔ Releasing resentment and choosing grace
✔ Letting go of the need for revenge
✔ Trusting God as the ultimate judge

Forgiveness doesn’t mean ignoring hurt or excusing sin. It means choosing freedom over bitterness. Unforgiveness keeps us trapped, but forgiving releases us into healing.

Jesus emphasizes this immediately after the Lord’s Prayer:

"If you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins" (Matthew 6:15).

This is a serious statement. It means we cannot receive God’s mercy while refusing to extend it to others.
