Day 3: Creating Sacred Spaces in Your Daily Life

Scripture:
“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”Luke 5:16 (NIV)

Devotional:
Motherhood is beautiful, but it’s also relentless. The demands can feel never-ending, with schedules packed from sunrise to bedtime. Yet, even Jesus, in the midst of His busy ministry, made it a priority to withdraw to quiet places and pray. He deliberately created sacred spaces to reconnect with the Father.

You may not have the luxury of retreating to the mountains or spending hours in solitude, but you can still build sacred spaces in your daily life. These are intentional moments where you step away from the noise to experience God’s presence.

Consider this: Jesus was surrounded by crowds, teaching, healing, and leading His disciples. Yet, He chose to withdraw—not because the work wasn’t important, but because His relationship with the Father was essential. His times of solitude were not escapes from reality but empowerments for His purpose.

What might your sacred spaces look like?

  • Morning Moments: Before the house awakens, linger in bed a few extra minutes, thanking God for the day ahead.
  • Breath Prayers: In the middle of the chaos, whisper a prayer like, “Lord, I need Your strength” or “Jesus, be my peace.”
  • Quiet Corners: Dedicate a specific chair or spot in your home as your meeting place with God.
  • Evening Reflection: As the day winds down, reflect on God’s faithfulness and release your worries to Him.

Creating sacred spaces doesn’t mean shutting yourself away for hours. It’s about inviting God into the everyday moments—transforming them into encounters with Him. When you do this, you will find His peace and guidance even in the midst of a busy day.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to create sacred spaces in the middle of my busy life. Teach me to find You in the ordinary moments and to cherish the quiet times I can spend in Your presence. Remind me that You are always near, ready to strengthen and refresh me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
