Rest for the Exhausted Momma’s Mindಮಾದರಿ

Fix Your Thoughts on God’s Promises
By now, I hope you’ve discovered the transformative power of dwelling on all the blessings God has already brought into your life. Remembering God’s past provision is a wonderful way to discover a present peace, as we press into the belief that our infinite, never-changing God will be with us today just as He was in the middle of all our yesterdays.
But that’s not where God’s goodness ends. The same is also true for our future! While it’s easier to look behind us and trace God’s presence and help in our lives, trusting Him with tomorrow is a bit more of a challenge. As we’ve discussed, we mommas are prone to worries and fears, especially when it comes to our kids. But if God has been good to us till now, why would He not be in the future?
Jeremiah 29:11 is many people’s favorite verse for a reason. It tells us: “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Having hope for the future is one of the greatest gifts of the Christian life. And since our God keeps His promises—He always has and always will—how might we train ourselves to find daily rest and relief in that comforting truth?
In Romans 4, Paul describes the faith of Abraham, “who never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises." How can we live like Abraham, believing that God’s goodness is true yesterday, today, and tomorrow?
Reflect:
What are the promises of God you can cling to? How might reminding yourself of these promises ease your heart and mind?
Pray:
Lord, I know you are loving, generous, and never-changing. Please help me look toward the future, believing that You will help, heal, and hold me and those I love who call on Your name. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
