Obstacle? No, Opportunity!

Cultivating godly wisdom that gives us the proper perspective allows us to experience joy that doesn’t depend on our circumstances. Whether the skies are cloudy or clear or whether the terrain we travel is rocky or smooth, we can experience joy when our hope is in God and when we keep the big picture in mind.

We don’t have to be puppets pulled along by the strings of situations and scenarios. When our hope is in the Lord, we believe he will use whatever happens to us for our ultimate good.

A person whose mind is governed by the flesh looks at hurdles ahead and turns immediately to thoughts of despair and defeat. But a person whose mind is governed by godly wisdom sees roadblocks and believes, Here’s a chance for God to show up on my behalf! Here’s a challenge that will give me a chance to grow my faith and move to a higher level of spiritual maturity.

For those who are guided by godly wisdom—for those who see everything from God’s perspective—wisdom is a sweet gift that points toward a hopeful future (Proverbs 24:14). We can trust that God is with us in all circumstances, and that itself is a gift that will strengthen us as we face any obstacle.

Heavenly Father, thank you for being my steadfast hope in both joyful and stormy seasons. I trust in the future that you have promised me. Fill me with your joy and peace in every circumstance and let me be a bright light in this despairing world. Amen.
