Called to Likeness

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness.”

Genesis 1:26

Believing in Christ gives Me the way within you to go to work. You’ve been made in Our image—mentally, morally, and socially. So, do not fear or struggle to be holy because I am the One who does the works within and through you to bring about your holiness. Rely on Me in every way when you’re trying to find your way. Come to Me when you are unsure which way to go or what you’re supposed to do. The way that I take you may not always be easy, but it will be worth it.

I’ve given you the joy of freedom—to be able to reason and choose, reflecting the image of God. When you have an idea, when you create, when you enjoy the world around you, you are proclaiming that you are made in Our image. It’s when you recognize and resist evil, turning from sin, that you reflect Our image of holiness. When you fellowship with others, make a friend, love a child, and enjoy the beauty in others, you are experiencing your life in Our likeness. And though you won’t always get things right and you won’t always be a flawless reflection, you can rely on the grace of God for forgiveness, enabling you to move forward, to let go of today’s mistakes and to trust in His mercy for every tomorrow.
