Avoiding Overconfidence

God, it’s easy to judge others. It’s harder to take a good look at my own life. I find myself thinking, I would never. . . or how could she? What dangerous thoughts! Where I am most confident that I would never fail You, I just might. Your disciple Peter was so sure he would not betray You and yet. . .look what happened. “But for the grace of God go I” should instead be my motto. Amen.

We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God. Ask the Lord to protect you and keep you sharp against the devil’s temptations.
