Reading the Bible can feel intimidating sometimes. But one simple way of studying Scripture is called S.O.A.P. It stands for "Scripture," "Observation," "Application," and "Prayer." We'll show you how—it's easy!
S: Scripture
If you haven't already, read today's passage of Scripture. Then, summarize it in your own words.
O: Observation
Read Matthew 6:25–34 again.
- What stands out to you?
- What does it teach us about where we should focus when we feel worried?
- What questions do you still have?
A: Application
- Do you ever make unwise choices in order to get the things you think you need? If so, what?
- Where does this passage invite you to point your attention instead?
- How do you think your perspective might shift if you do? What actions would change as a result?
P: Prayer
Spend some time praying to God about the parts of your life you want control over rather than trusting God to care for you. Ask for help, and rely on God to provide for your needs. Then, say thank you for all the ways God is with you in the little moments of each day.
